Rev. Fr. Babu Varghese, B.Sc., BD, GST. DIP
Rev. Fr Babu Varghese was born in the famous Thiruvinal family at Thumpamon as the son of Mr. T.G. Varghese and Sosamma.
He has a B.Sc. degree in
Botany from Kerala University, B.D. from Serampore University and GST from the Orthodox Seminary at Kottayam.
He is married to Annie Varghese (D/O K. M. Varghese, Kochivizhalil, Vallamkulam) and have two
sons: Bonnie George Mathew and Binu Thomas Mathew.
He has worked as the Sub Editor of the Orthodox Youth Magazine, Chief Editor of Malankara Orthodox Herald, President of the Orthodox Christian Service Society
(Madras diocesan project at Bangalore), General Secretary of the Indian Orthodox Church Faith and Culture fellowship, Convener of the first OVBS material production committee and Asst. Print Coordinator – IBL
India ( Madras). Now he is the Editor in charge of an online Bi-weekly publication.
He served the parishes at Ayroor Kurishumuttom; Karoor St. Peters; Kottanadu St. George ; Bangalore St. Paul’s ,
Avadi St. George ; Vizakhapattanam St. Stephen’s ; Ramalingapuram St. Mary’s in Hyderabad and Madras Broadway Cathedral . Since 2001 July he serves the St. Gregorios Orthodox Church, Clifton, New
Jersey.
H.G Mar Philaxenos ordained him deacon in 1978 and H.H. Baselios Marthoma I ordained him priest in 1984.
